ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY TIPS

Every couple is unique and when they decide to get engaged means they are preparing to get hitched forever. Engagement shoots ain't that hectic as compared to the wedding shoots but still may pose various challenges. There are many shutterbugs who conduct Engagementphotography in Orlando and if you are an aspiring photographer, you can seek help from them or can do an internship to hone your skills. Nevertheless, let's check out a few tips that can help you to conduct an engagement shoot.

Portrait session:
Starting off with a quick portrait session can help you to build a rapport with the couple and this will also make them comfortable. Some individuals are too shy to face the camera especially when they are at the center of public attention. So, it's essential to make them accustomed to it so that they look confident in your pictures. Moreover, this will also help you to warm up a bit and understand the aesthetics of the location.
Back Up:
No matter how much you are confident about your plans, always keep a back of all your scheduled activity before the shoot. What if you run out of power, your lights got malfunctioned during the shoot, your assistant didn't turn up at the last moment. All this can hamper your shoot and thus it is essential to have a plan B for everything. Keep an extra cam in your kitty, carry at least 2 fully charged batteries or more depending upon the duration of the shoot so that you never run out of power, check all your equipment like lenses, lights prior to the shoot, keep a back up of your manpower in case of any absence. This is a common practice amongst the wedding photographers inOrlando as they do not want to leave any stone unturned.
Poses:
If possible, I would reckon you to set up a meeting with the couple prior to the shoot in order to understand their expectations and list them down. It’s really important you ask your clients if they are comfortable with kissing or any other form of PDA. You also need to gauge their traits when you meet them since some couples are more jovial and may laugh more, others can be more intense, while some will be romantic. Based on that you can decide the poses.
You can advise some romantic poses for couples that love to laugh and play. Tell them to jump, dance with each other, stare at each other and take candid shots while they are walking.
Wardrobes:
It's always better to shoot in multiple attire as this will add variety in your profile. Engagement photo shoots can get stale and turn out to be a snoozefest if you only work with one clothing change. Encourage your client to bring clothing that is comfortable for them and if possible tell them to send the pictures of their attires. This will give you a brief idea about their appearance and you can plan in a better way.
On a personal note,  I generally recommend these three options: Formal outfits like a dress or button up and jacket, Casual day-date clothing, Every day comfortable clothing. You can also tell them to get as much as possible and also tell them to get their most favorite attire.
